Schools From 1851-1900
The St. Agnes School opened in September of 1876, in a wooden building on the north side of the village circle. It had been the original Catholic church, before the new brick church was built on Prospect Street. Eight grades were taught by the Sisters of St. Joseph.

1895 - The Union Free School was changed to the Avon High School. On December 17, 1896, Avon High School was approved as a high school.
